Adrian Holey was with Harrogate-based Cawood Smithie between 1983 and 1991 and again between 1997 and 2000. In between he qualified and practised as a solicitor, the role in which he now joins Barber Titleys. The other new recruit is Catherine Armitage, who was previously with Atkinson Dacre, Otley, where she was a senior lawyer running the firm’s Probate Department. Barber Titleys’ Private Client Department works for clients throughout North Yorkshire and is well known for its specialist expertise in administering charitable trusts. The new appointments bring the strength of the department to five lawyers and three support staff. Partner and Head of the Private Client Department, Judith Long, says: “Our department is expanding as demand for our expertise grows. As well as having a broad range of skills within the department, we are able to tap into other specialist expertise within the firm, including property planning and agriculture, which enables us to offer a comprehensive service to clients with substantial assets.
