Barber Titleys has invested in creating full time jobs for three young lawyers in spite of the tough economic climate.

Two solicitors who joined the firm as trainees in 2007 have gained full-time jobs in key departments and a third, who joined as a legal secretary, has been granted a full-time training contract.

Edward Taylor, 26, of York and Matthew Brown, 28, of Harrogate, are now fully-fledged fee earners in the Private Client Department and Property Department, respectively, after completing broad-based training with the firm.

Estella Pengilley, also from Harrogate, who joined the firm as a legal secretary in 2008, is now training to be a solicitor in the Company Commercial department with an 18-month training contract which will see her qualify in 2011.

Managing partner, Richard Davis, a property lawyer, says: “As a forward- looking practice, we are aware of the need to create jobs for the next generation of lawyers and are pleased to be in a position to do this in the current tough economic climate.

“We know that Matthew, Edward and Estella will help create a new generation of high-quality lawyers for Barber Titleys and will uphold the high standards which are so important to us and our clients.”

Edward Taylor says: “We’re all pleased to be working with a forward-looking firm and to have gained full-time posts to develop our careers alongside such a highly-experienced senior team.”
